Geode on iPhone: Geometry Dash Mods Without Jailbreak

Geode is a free, open-source mod loader for Geometry Dash, and its iOS launcher lets you play the game with mods on an iPhone or iPad without a jailbreak. Before you set it up you should know three things: you need your own paid copy of Geometry Dash from the App Store, Geode breaks after every Geometry Dash update until its developers catch up, and the install method you choose decides how many mods work. This guide covers what Geode is, the real limits, and which install method fits you. Last checked: October 27, 2026, against Geode’s GitHub pages and the App Store.

The Short Version

  • Geode is made by the Geode team (geode-sdk on GitHub), not by RobTop Games, the maker of Geometry Dash. It is free and open source under the Boost Software License.
  • You need the full version of Geometry Dash installed from the App Store ($3.99 in the US in October 2026). The Geode launcher does not include the game.
  • Every Geometry Dash update breaks Geode for a while. In late October 2026 Geode’s install page said Geode was broken on the new game version 2.2091 and that a fix was being worked on.
  • Geode’s own docs rate the “free certificate” method, which is how shared-certificate signers work, as the worst way to install it: it gives only partial mod support and works unreliably. SideStore or a paid developer certificate work better.
  • The launcher needs iOS 14 or later (LiveContainer: iOS 15 or later).

What Geode Does

Geode loads mods into Geometry Dash and gives modders a shared framework, so mods work together instead of conflicting. On iOS the Geode launcher manages Geode and starts the game with your mods loaded. It uses code from LiveContainer and a signing library to load mods without JIT where possible. Mods are installed from the Geode mod index inside the game.

Geode’s install guide says popular mods such as CBF, Eclipse and Globed work in the JIT-less (partial) mode, and that JIT (full mode) is needed for the rest.

Limits and Risks First

1. It breaks after every game update

Geode’s site says every new Geometry Dash update breaks Geode, and that updating it takes the volunteer team at least a few days. If Geode crashes after a game update, the team’s advice is to uninstall it and wait for the update announcement. If you want mods without interruptions, think about turning off automatic App Store updates for Geometry Dash, and check Geode’s site before updating the game.

2. Partial or full mod support

Without JIT, most popular mods work, but not all. Full support needs JIT, which on current iOS versions needs a development-signed install (SideStore or a paid developer certificate) plus a tool such as StikDebug, and a computer for the first setup.

3. Free (shared) certificates are the weakest option

Geode’s documentation calls free or enterprise certificates the worst way to install it and says to avoid them unless you have no other choice. In that mode you get JIT-less support only, it needs at least 400 MB for a patched copy of the game (the “Geode Helper”), and you have to patch and reinstall that Helper every time you install, update, enable or disable a mod, or update Geode. Geode’s docs also say these certificates violate Apple’s terms, can be revoked (the app then crashes), and may get a device blacklisted.

4. Deleting the Helper deletes its saves

In the free-certificate mode, the Helper keeps its own Geometry Dash save data. Geode’s docs warn that uninstalling the Helper permanently deletes the saves, mods and mod settings inside it. Install the new Helper IPA over the old one instead, and back up your progress with Geometry Dash’s own account save first.

5. Download only from Geode

Get the launcher only from the geode-sdk/ios-launcher releases on GitHub or Geode’s official AltSource. Geode is free, so a site that charges for it, or that offers a “Geometry Dash full version” IPA, is not official. A pre-patched copy of the game is piracy, and you cannot verify what was added to it.

Which Install Method to Use

Geode’s install guide compares five methods (October 2026):

Method iOS Computer Mods Cost
TrollStore / jailbreak 14 to 17.0 (not 16.7.x+) Usually no Full Free
SideStore 14+ First setup Partial, full with JIT Free
Paid developer certificate 14+ Only for JIT Partial, full with JIT Paid
LiveContainer (inside SideStore) 15+ Yes (for SideStore) Partial, full with JIT Free
Free certificates 14+ No Partial only Free

In short: if your device supports TrollStore, Geode recommends it. Otherwise, with a computer, SideStore is the best free option; without a computer, Geode recommends a paid developer certificate. Free certificates are the last resort.

How to Install Geode with SideStore

This is the free route that works on current iOS versions. Summarized from Geode’s SideStore guide:

  1. Install Geometry Dash from the App Store.
  2. Install SideStore with a computer; see our guide on how to install SideStore on iPhone. Turn on Developer Mode in Settings > Privacy & Security when iOS asks.
  3. Download the latest Geode launcher IPA from the geode-sdk/ios-launcher GitHub releases, or add Geode’s AltSource in SideStore’s Sources tab (Geode says the AltSource can get updates later).
  4. With LocalDevVPN on, add the IPA in SideStore’s My Apps tab.
  5. Open Geode. For partial mode, tap Enable JIT-Less, Import SideStore Certificate, then Test JIT-Less Mode, then Launch.
  6. For full mode, set up JIT with StikDebug as described in our StikDebug JIT guide, then tap Launch in Geode. Geode’s guide lists extra StikDebug settings for iOS 26.

Refresh SideStore and Geode every week, or they stop opening after 7 days. If you already use SideStore and want to save an app slot, Geode also runs inside LiveContainer.

Can I Use Scarlet iOS for Geode?

Scarlet signs apps with a shared certificate, so it falls under the free-certificate method in Geode’s guide, with its limits: JIT-less only, a patched Helper to reinstall after each mod change, and the risk of revokes. Geode’s free-certificate guide names on-device signers such as KSign and Feather for that step. If you go this way anyway, keep your Geometry Dash progress backed up to your account, never uninstall the Helper, and see what to do when a certificate is revoked. For regular use, SideStore is the better choice.

FAQ

Is Geode free?

Yes. Geode and its iOS launcher are free and open source. Geometry Dash itself is a paid App Store game.

Can I play Geometry Dash Lite with Geode?

No. Geode’s requirements say the full version of Geometry Dash must be installed.

Why does Geode crash after the game updated?

Each Geometry Dash update breaks Geode until the team releases a matching version. Check Geode’s site or Discord, and uninstall it until the fix is out if it keeps crashing.

Does Geode need a jailbreak?

No. A jailbreak or TrollStore is one option, but SideStore, a developer certificate and LiveContainer work on non-jailbroken devices.
