SideStore Errors Explained: Pairing File, LocalDevVPN and Error Codes (2026)
SideStore installs and refreshes apps on your iPhone with your own Apple Account, so you only need a computer once. When something goes wrong, it shows a message and often an error code. This guide explains the common ones and the fixes, using SideStore’s own error list and troubleshooting docs. Last checked: October 28, 2026. If you have not set SideStore up yet, start with how to install SideStore.
Before You Start
- SideStore needs Wi-Fi and LocalDevVPN connected for every install and refresh. Its docs say it “cannot refresh or install applications without Wi-Fi and LocalDevVPN”.
- Many fixes end with replacing the pairing file with iloader, so keep iloader on your computer. SideStore says the pairing file can expire after you update or reset your iPhone, and “at random times”.
- Only get SideStore and iloader from their own GitHub pages and sites. Anyone asking for your Apple Account password outside the app itself is not SideStore.
Quick Table: Message, Cause, Fix
| Message or code | Cause | First fix |
|---|---|---|
| “The current pairing file is invalid” / “Pairing Required” | The pairing file expired or is missing | Replace it with iloader |
| “VPN Connection Error … make sure LocalDevVPN is connected” / 1414 No Wi-Fi/StosVPN | LocalDevVPN or Wi-Fi is off | Connect both, then refresh |
| “Network Connection Error … connect to Wi-Fi” | No Wi-Fi (mobile data is not enough) | Join Wi-Fi |
| 1003 The operation timed out | The action did not finish | Try again, then the connection steps below |
| 1004 You are not signed in | No Apple Account in SideStore | Sign in under Settings in SideStore |
| 1005 The app could not be found | The file does not exist at the source URL | Get the app from another source |
| 1006 Could not determine this device’s UDID | Pairing problem | Reset and replace the pairing file |
| 1007 / “The app is in an invalid format” | Not a standard .ipa | Download the app again from another place |
| 1009 No more than 10 App IDs within 7 days | Free Apple Account App ID limit | Wait until App IDs expire |
| 1011 Denied permission to launch the app | You tapped Cancel, or the Apple Account is not trusted yet | Allow the prompt, trust in Settings |
| “The signing certificate … has expired” or “was revoked” | Your certificate is no longer valid | Re-sign or reinstall the app |
Pairing File Errors
SideStore talks to your iPhone through a pairing file. When it is invalid, SideStore says: “The current pairing file is invalid … If the issue persists, replace your pairing with iloader or idevice_pair.” A missing one shows “Pairing Required“. SideStore’s steps to replace it:
- Open iloader on your computer and update it if it asks. A USB cable gives the most reliable result.
- Click Delete Stored Pairing to discard the old file.
- Click your device in the list and tap Trust on the iPhone when asked.
- Click Manage Pairing File, then Place next to SideStore. iloader should say “Pairing file placed successfully!”
- If SideStore still shows an error, restart the iPhone and the computer and repeat.
For error 1006 (UDID not found), SideStore’s list adds: first tap Reset Pairing File in SideStore’s Settings, then replace the file as above.
LocalDevVPN and Wi-Fi Errors
Messages such as “VPN Connection Error … Please make sure LocalDevVPN is connected and running properly“, “Network Connection Error … Please connect to Wi-Fi“, code 1414 and “AFC Connection Failure” all mean SideStore cannot reach the device service. SideStore’s own order of fixes, refreshing after each step:
- If you use WireGuard or StosVPN, switch to LocalDevVPN.
- Turn off DNS blockers.
- Make sure LocalDevVPN and Wi-Fi are both connected.
- Try again.
- Restart SideStore, then LocalDevVPN.
- Replace the pairing file with iloader.
SideStore Hangs Part Way Through an Install
SideStore lists cache or protocol problems as the cause. Its steps: update or restart SideStore, clear the cache, change the anisette server, reset adi.pb and sign out and back in, restart the device, recreate the pairing file, and as a last step reinstall SideStore with iloader. If the icon on the Home Screen is the part that is stuck, see also sideloaded app stuck on Waiting or Installing.
App ID and App Limits
Error 1009 says you cannot register more than 10 App IDs within 7 days. SideStore explains that App IDs cannot be deleted by hand and expire on their own; the My Apps tab shows when. The separate 3-app limit on a free Apple Account is covered in the 3-app limit fix, and LiveContainer is the way past it that SideStore’s FAQ names.
Certificate Expired or Revoked
SideStore shows “The signing certificate used to install [app] has expired” or “was revoked on the Apple Developer portal“, and asks you to re-sign or reinstall the app. Apps signed with a free Apple Account last 7 days, so refresh before then: see refreshing apps after 7 days. If you imported a custom certificate by mistake, SideStore says to reset it in Settings > Advanced > Certificates.
Errors That Are Not SideStore’s
- “Integrity could not be verified” comes from iOS: see the integrity error fixes.
- “[App] requires iOS [version] or later”: see how to fix “requires a newer version of iOS”.
- JIT errors (Minimuxer error 4) mean JIT is not supported on that iOS version in SideStore, which lists iOS 17.4 to 18.6. For JIT on other versions, see StikDebug.
SideStore asks users not to request support for bugs in nightly builds; if a nightly causes trouble, switch to the latest stable build. Using AltStore Classic instead? See AltStore and AltServer errors.
